A different type of Lab

Welcome to the Pracademic Lab. By combining ‘Practitioner’ and ‘Academic’, the term Pracademia seeks to capture where two words, and worlds, meet.

The Lab aims to translate between very different realities; a testing ground where rigour and relevance intersect, and inform one another.

Understanding this point of intersection, symbolised by the red circle in our logo, delivers value at every level.

Backdrop

Finding the intersection between Academia and Practice is not easy.

Many academics talk their own language, primarily to one another. As a consequence, much of the wonderful insight generated on the ‘mountain-top’ of academic achievement simply gets lost. It evaporates within a closed loop of scholarship.

Practitioners have their own issues. Driven by the action, traction and distraction of everyday life, their capacity for meaningful reflection, thoughtful decision making and disciplined delivery often disappears. Great ideas from the mountain-top, abstract and remote, just don’t get a look in.

Add the ‘challenges’ of AI into the mix and suddenly a rupture opens up. Just at the moment when both sides need one another the most.

The Pracademic Lab illuminates the space between these worlds, in a way that is rigorous, relevant and practical. It’s mission, non-traditional structure and range of activities are positioned at the sweet spot between critical insight and real-world impact.
